Pintxos (Basque spelling) or tapas is the question. Both are seriously wonderful and a great in sight into the food of Spain and it's regions. The south is tapa world and the north lives and revels in it's choice and variety of pintxos For us supposedly living on a budget you can't beat 'free' tapas, but there is so much choice in pintxos and a great part of the delight … [Read more...] about Pinch or Tap

Black to Red
Two of David’s favourite colours in the world of food. Black = black pudding. Red= red wine and we managed to cover the top Spanish of each in one week and also pay homage to one of Spain’s leading golfers, the great Seve. Mon 08/08/16: Up and last lot of washing on before we go on the hunt for chocolate with churros in the very bonita town of Santillana del Mar. In the south … [Read more...] about Black to Red
A Drop Too Many
An interesting week as we headed into the Picos de Europa mountains. We have done many a stunning drive through mountains and valleys but this was a whole different ball game. The roads were almost impossible at times and the up's and down's tested NiKi to the full and us as well. The food was all about local produce, cheese, meats etc and we did buy as much locally as we … [Read more...] about A Drop Too Many
Magic Mushroom
Mon 25/07/16: Feast Day of Santiago. So the night before lots of fireworks again in the main town. We are in full summer season here now so it's peak prices for all the camp sites, but we have been lucky and have found both places to park and cheaper Aires. The weather has also been kind to us, with sun most days … [Read more...] about Norte North
A tale of two services.
When started our trip we were complete novices and soon realised that motorhome people really do help each other out. We are so grateful to the many people that gave their time and advice to get us off on the road safely. Lately we have had the opportunity to help out others, one couple had rented a motorhome from Mac Rent and could not switch the fridge to gas. The … [Read more...] about A tale of two services.
Oops, and that’s broken it, plus another and another, three in a week!
Your intrepid travellers managed to make six months without having anything really fall apart or breaking anything. But all good things come to an end, and a small series of items have broken in quick succession. Our first little disaster was windblown, in that the door blew back into the fly screen and the catch on the bottom shattered. So though the fly screen still works … [Read more...] about Oops, and that’s broken it, plus another and another, three in a week!
Fishie Fish
Mon 11/7/16: A lovely clear and bright start to the day, but not sure the same can be said for our neighbours across the estuary from us-Portugal, as they were celebrating well into the night with gun salutes and fireworks well into the early hours and good on them as well. So with the sun shining we jumped on our bikes and cycled up Monte de Santa Trega. Not an easy cycle and … [Read more...] about Fishie Fish
