Golf, golf, and more golf was the plan for the week just gone but this had already been deflated by the non arrival of David’s golf buddies. But for us like them it had been paid for and at this stage the C word wasn’t too bad in Turkey, so a week in a 5 star all inclusive continued to be the plan. There was a series of activities planned in the hotel that you could take … [Read more...] about Shake On it!!

Muzzy’s Place
It’s Sunday morning (15th) and we’re sat in Muzzy’s Place having a cay (tea) with the sun trying to break through over the Greek deserted village Levissi, which provides the main tourist attraction for the small Turkish town sitting just below it-Kayakoy. We are parked in Muzzy’s car park of his small hotel and restaurant complex which looks right up to the ruins, so we … [Read more...] about Muzzy’s Place
BUSTed!!
Since February it has been carnival season in Greece and they have celebrated it in a variety of ways, according to the local region. A lot involve the children dressing up in whatever fairy or scary costumes they choose and there also seem to have been a lot of scary clown masks and decorations going on as well. Monday here was their first day of Lent and it’s called Clean … [Read more...] about BUSTed!!
Love Island (s)
Two contestants, three islands -who will be the winner at the end of the week. Actually, we have never seen an episode of Love Island, but we do love the Greek islands-who doesn’t. We have also loved the Peloponnese mainland as well, but with the four Saronic Gulf Islands just a hop, skip and a boat away who could resist, especially with my replacement battery ready and waiting … [Read more...] about Love Island (s)
Once, Twice, Three Times Souvlaki!
My long term love affair with Greece very nearly ended this week with one of the worse, death defying drives ever, car or motorhome, over several mountain ranges from the lovely ancient walled city of Monemvasia, at the tip of the Peloponnese to Nafplio tucked in a curved bay heading back towards Athens. We had been at another World Heritage site -Mystras, listed ruins of … [Read more...] about Once, Twice, Three Times Souvlaki!
It’s a First
We left Italy with a last feast of home-cooked pork chops, potatoes and two veg, cooked in the port whilst waiting to board. There was some doubt as to whether the chops might have been horse meat as we brought them from a local market, but if they were, they did a good impression of very tasty pork. The sixteen-hour crossing to Patra with Grimaldi Lines remained as ever … [Read more...] about It’s a First
Leaving Europe
And we have-us to Switzerland. A temporary bolt to Geneva to catch up with family as we see out January. We, as we travel through on our journey are leaving more and more of the UK behind- our fresh supplies from our last UK shop have now more or less diminished- bacon, sausages, ham, burgers,(homemade from site in Chichester-very nice), potatoes, butter, oranges so we are … [Read more...] about Leaving Europe
The Last Post?
29th May to 4th June 2017 As we both sit contemplating our last weekend, writing our last post it seemed only fitting that our last stop before our ferry home on Tuesday was in Ypres, where the Last Post has a much deeper meaningful reason and nothing can quite prepare you for that sound each evening. I would defy anyone not to have tears in their eyes during this very … [Read more...] about The Last Post?
