10th to the 17th April ‘Hvala ti i Doviđenja’ to Croatia and an big ‘Zdravo’ to Slovenia. Today we finally left Croatia since we arrived we have been very lucky with the weather, and the sights have been truly amazing. Our last week started with us treating ourselves to a ‘Peka’ in a very traditional restaurant in Zagreb. A ‘peka’ is a veal and lamb stew cooked in a bell … [Read more...] about A New Day And a New Country
Week 4th to 9th April 2017 What joy to wake up to stunning sea views, waves lapping at your tyres (D forgot the handbrake again!) and to be able to breakfast outside in the sun taking it all in. We really are absolutely making the most of every opportunity now with the ferry booked for our return in June when the views will be completely different in S.E London. But for now … [Read more...] about Hard Cheese
27th March to the 2nd April Our arrival in Croatia has slowed us right down; it is perfect motorhome country, fantastic beaches, glowing cities and towns, plus the natural parks that just ooze charm and beauty. So what have we been up too? Trogir another UNESCO world heritage site, fitted part of our challenge set for us by Elddis for the journey home, it is as … [Read more...] about Motorhome Joy that is Croatia, Oh and how fragile is a drone?
Week 20-26th March 2017 Our Monday by Lago Trasimeno started cloudy and a bit grey, but with no rain forecast we set off on a cycle, our first again for an age not wishing to dice with the traffic on most of Italy’s city roads. We were hoping for a cycle path around this lake, Italy’s 4th largest but the actual track and even the road only hugged it for so long and so on our … [Read more...] about Split…..The Difference

We woke up with this as our view after our first night o Elba. The island of Elba is one of the loveliest places you can go in Italy, a myriad of beautiful beaches to suit all tastes sandy, pebbly and all types in between. The main town of Portoferraio has a luminosity about it with a wonderful fortress, Martello tower and a lovely … [Read more...] about ‘La vita è bella’ Italy in a motorhome.
Week 6-12th March 2017 With the cultural and ruin overload of Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples not to mention the dirt plus grime of these places some peace, quiet and space was called for and so we headed to a seaside spot by the name of Sabaudia. A dull town by LP’s description but its point of merit was being in the Parque Nazionale del Circeo-85k of sand dunes, rocky … [Read more...] about What This Olde Thing
This week we have travelled up from the toe of Italy and have visited 6 UNESCO world heritage sites. Being in a motorhome enables you to get to these amazing places quite easily. That said parking can be a problem so you have to use public transport to get to the sites or walk. To be honest you have to be careful not to get UNESCO’ed out. This is very easy to do and when … [Read more...] about First visit to a brothel
Feb 20-26th We had decided to extend our stay in Sicily by a day for the simple reason that the Tuesday was to be a brighter, sunnier day and the view from Castlemola the hilltop town even higher then Taormina was said to have spectacular views of Mt Etna. So we spent the rather dull Monday food shopping but also venturing slightly further along the coast on … [Read more...] about It’s The Little Things
Our second full week in Sicily and we veer from loving it to hating it, so very Marmite. Negatives: The roads are simply the worst we have come across including many in Africa! Potholes like craters on the motorways. On top of that, their driving is beyond stupid, we have been unfortunate enough to come across three accidents during the week plus at least 10 near … [Read more...] about Sicily, our Marmite journey and on to the Mainland,
