This week brings the end of our first full week at Pinar San Jose, Zahora and it’s been a lovely week, in it’s own simple way-which is exactly what we were hoping for. Monday brought our first proper taste (this time) of the famed retinto beef, with a lovely one rib, rib of beef. David cooked it perfectly on the BBQ and it had a wonderful depth of flavour. Unfortunately, our … [Read more...] about Another Sherry Perhaps?
Golfing A-Round
And that’s what David has been fortunate enough to be able to do this week- with different sets of friends and on two different courses. This of course makes the carrying of the golfclubs all worthwhile, even if as ever they haven’t performed quite as well as they should have done. In fact, it was a week of losing with the magic sticks for David, as on the Bank Holiday … [Read more...] about Golfing A-Round
Grazie Mille
Thank you very much. Italy again for another wonderful trip, and showing us more of your delightful country. Thank you very much as well – to Mr Mark for putting us up in his lovely Lucca flat, while Buster had some waterworks repaired (thank you very much to Elddis as well, for sorting that out).We won’t be saying any thanks to Covid for yet again making us change our plans … [Read more...] about Grazie Mille
Bonjour to Buongiorno
Blogday Sunday and it’s hammering it down, along with thunder and lightning as well as we sit in Buster on the coast at Finale Ligure. We have been here before, the previous time staying on the campsite up the road, not spotting this €10 aire until too late. So, obviously this time we knew where to head, and given the time of year (later in the season) we hoped it would be … [Read more...] about Bonjour to Buongiorno
A Swiss Delight.
Sunday morning rose, bring with it a great view of Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, the sun shining brightly over the many vineyards in the area. We had arrived at Steve and Sinead’s the night before and of course the wine had flowed, along with a real treat for me- a couple of glasses of port. If I loved them before I loved them even more when they produced the bottle of my … [Read more...] about A Swiss Delight.
B 2 B
Business to business, in previous working life speech, or for us in now in MH world, Bra to Barolo. Well actually it was C 2 B, as we left the coast of Finale Ligure (all sets of keys firmly intact and hanging where they should) as we headed off on the Monday in thunder, lightning and heavy rain for an inland town called Cuneo. Why, you might ask, but for us it was why not. We … [Read more...] about B 2 B
All That’s Italian
Gelato, pizza, pasta, Aperol Spritz, Peroni, Birra Moretti, ruins, medieval hilltop towns, style, fashion, beautiful people. Shocking roads, even worse drivers, unlit tunnels, collapsible bridges, Grimaldi Line Ferries. All the above are Italian and some are excellent and some are just awful and I think we all know which is which out of the above. We started with an … [Read more...] about All That’s Italian
A Postcard from Greece
As we sit on this Tuesday evening on a campsite in Halkidiki, with the smells of Romania, Serbia and Bulgaria meat fest food cooking all around us we wonder whether we are in Greece. Then our food baby bellies rumble from the lovely fresh fish-dorado and calamari, Greek salad and tzatziki we had for lunch along with the beautiful azure blue waters and we know we are very firmly … [Read more...] about A Postcard from Greece
