Advice and How to's

Dark, broody and very sad. Dachau a soul of evil

Normally we only write one blog entry a week on our ‘Long Way Home’ but this week we crossed from Italy across Austria, a quick stop in Switzerland and on to Germany. The skies were dark and broody as we crossed the Alps and by the time we reached our chosen destination Garmish, the heavens had opened and the rain was coming down in buckets.   So we thought we … [Read more...] about Dark, broody and very sad. Week 17th to 23rd April 2017 2nd chance- everyone, thing, place deserves one??  Thursday 20th April we gave Italy that 2nd chance to redeem itself in our eyes and world after leaving the country one month earlier with the Italy Lonely Planet guide bouncing off the custom officers head to cries of “ and don’t think we’ll be back here again” Real reason… after … [Read more...] about 2nd Chance

A New Day And a New Country

10th to the 17th April ‘Hvala ti i Doviđenja’ to Croatia and an big ‘Zdravo’ to Slovenia. Today we finally left Croatia since we arrived we have been very lucky with the weather, and the sights have been truly amazing. Our last week started with us treating ourselves to a ‘Peka’ in a very traditional restaurant in Zagreb. A ‘peka’ is a veal and lamb stew cooked in a bell … [Read more...] about A New Day And a New Country

Hard Cheese

Week 4th to 9th April 2017 What joy to wake up to stunning sea views, waves lapping at your tyres (D forgot the handbrake again!) and to be able to breakfast outside in the sun taking it all in. We really are absolutely making the most of every opportunity now with the ferry booked for our return in June when the views will be completely different in S.E London. But for now … [Read more...] about Hard Cheese

Clean and Tidy

Having just returned from a busy week back in the UK this is a 'filler' to cover that week with normal weekly service being resumed next Monday days after our arrival in Sardinia - stay with us for the last 5 months The motorhomers key to (near) perfect harmony Living in a confined space can be a challenge - never more so when that space is a motorhome.  The dream may … [Read more...] about Clean and Tidy

The serious side of traveling.

As we have travelled around Spain for the past year we have moaned a bit about the weather. We found that the sun doesn't always shine here. In fact we think that on a third of the days since we arrived last January it has rained. All very interesting but nothing prepared us for the devastating rain experience we have had over the past few days. Not for us thankfully but for … [Read more...] about The serious side of traveling.

Poo-Gate

Thurs 13/10/16: Valderrobres. Our overnight Aire stop after our cava tasting tour. Valderrobres is another Bonito village and the Aire is on the river just outside the walled town so a lovely spot.  Parts of the town were bonito and others really needed some money and restoration done on them, but like so many places in Spain there is only so much money, time etc to go around. … [Read more...] about Poo-Gate

“The Lady in a Van”   3 quarters of the way in

July, August and September, the absolute summer months in Spain and those months most dreaded by many for being the busiest, hottest and costly. Were they? Yes in answer to all 3. Did we manage?  Yes of course and we like all the other months have thoroughly enjoyed them. For the best part the 2nd quarter of our trip passed relatively smoothly apart from a very poor Spring … [Read more...] about “The Lady in a Van”   3 quarters of the way in
