We are now technically illegal here in Turkey our Visa expired last week and still await news that the border is again open. The latest we have is that Turkey has open the borders for people to drive in but as yet the Greeks are waiting until the 15th to formally announce what they are going to do. We are ever hopeful and are leaving this coming Tuesday to head for the Greek … [Read more...] about Light or an oncoming train
Goodbye, Adieu, Slan, Güle güle, a Farewell to Sundance and moving on. After 10 weeks our lockdown adventure at Sundance camp is came to an end and we have flown the nest. Our last week was both sad and uplifting, as our lockdown community departed and at the end it was just two vans Karen and I, and James and Katherine. It is surprising how a bunch of disparate people … [Read more...] about Auf Wiedersehen, Pet
We have now entered our tenth week staying at Sundance Camp near Kemer having arrived on the 21st of March and are in the middle of a four day curfew, essentially a lockdown on steroids so not allowed leave the campsite let alone head for Durham. We are now becoming a little stir crazy and the time is coming we must plan to leave regardless. The country is opening up next week … [Read more...] about Keystone Kops
Our ninth week at Sundance has brought something new, heat lots and lots of heat, seemingly the hottest May days in 75 years. As I write in the shade of the bar area drinking ‘Cay’ odd that a hot drink can cool you down, it is 38 degrees in the shade. The van is like oven and to top it off though site is on the sea and we have a river flowing through it. We are not allowed into … [Read more...] about So Dammm Hot! Diesel-gate and other stories.
When we started off in January to see parts of the world that would be new to us and go off the beaten track. As they say it is all the little things I will be doing a full review of the van later! Our plan was to … [Read more...] about Now for something completely different.

Every other day of the week is the same for all us at the moment and for many it’s probably beginning to take its toll, unfortunately. As I’m writing this, I’m sitting in my chair under the shade of a tree with the sea only some 10 feet away from me. The waves are gently lapping … [Read more...] about Volta – ring
Two contestants, three islands -who will be the winner at the end of the week. Actually, we have never seen an episode of Love Island, but we do love the Greek islands-who doesn’t. We have also loved the Peloponnese mainland as well, but with the four Saronic Gulf Islands just a hop, skip and a boat away who could resist, especially with my replacement battery ready and waiting … [Read more...] about Love Island (s)
Week 22nd to the 28th May One week OMG, only one week left of our 17-month adventure and shock and horror reign in NiKi, or does it? We started the week at a lovely town on the Rhine called Bingen, the site where we stayed was right on the river and the grapevines swept down to the river’s edge. Above us was the massive ‘Germania’ monument to the unification of Germany in … [Read more...] about Rhine and Wine
May 7th through to the 14h This has been our biggest week for countries visited; we departed Italy with sadness having gone from somewhat loathing, to a love affair. I think Italians would like that a little bit as all emotions are covered. I mentioned earlier my ‘Gelato challenge was won early, by Bar Gelateria Ercole - Pizzo Calabro, their Tartufo di Pizzo is a … [Read more...] about ‘Breaking Bad’ Waldsee
